A ganglion is a small lump that develops along the tendons or joints of the wrist, hand, fingers or foot. They are cysts that are filled with thick clear fluid and can be the size of a pea to the size of a golf ball.
They can fluctuate in size and can become painful especially when pressed. In most cases they can be left alone however if they are painful anti – inflammatory medication may be prescribed or they may be aspirated.
They can recur even after aspiration. On occasion they need to be surgically removed.
